The new musical with music and Lyrics by Mark Russell and Rob McLoughlin

Soho in 1980s London is a place where you can be anyone or anything at anytime!

As Thatcherism sweeps through Britain, as Scotland Yard attempts to clean up the district and as music moves from rebellion and punk to New Romantics, we meet an amazing array of characters living on the edge of change. It’s a show filled with music, dance, comedy, and romance but also quickly turns into a whodunnit and search for possible redemption.

Soho Dreams spins around the illicit drinking den ‘The Night Owls’ on Greek Street where we meet Samantha Serraillier. Her life changes as a young man from the North of England moves to a part of the city he despises. Is Sammy in control or being controlled and are her friends, a catalyst for much of the change and freedoms many enjoy today, trapped or living the dream?

19 original songs with music composed by Mark Russell, renowned for ‘Cold Feet’ ITV, ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ BBC, ‘Kingdom’ ITV, ‘Law and Order’ NBC plus work with Jerry Seinfeld in Hollywood and productions for Netflix (for more see www.coolmusicltd.com ). They bring a story to life which is inspired by Mary Magdalene and Bizet’s Carmen. Mark has been nominated for a BAFTA and Ivor Novello Award for his outstanding work.

Rob McLoughlin conceived the idea, and he invited Mark (they met at Derwent College, University of York) to team up. Soho Dreams was workshopped with graduates from the Scottish Conservatoire in Glasgow including Harry Mills ( ‘Wicked’ West-End) during lockdown and later in Islington with Talia Palamanthan ( ‘Everyone’s Talking About Jamie’ movie and tour) before being showcased at The Other Palace in London owned by Bill Kenwright’s  theatre company.
