Rob has received the prestigious 02 Scoop of the Year Award at a special ceremony in Chester. He won the prize for the huge national attention on TV, Radio, Online and in the press he received for his revelation in May 2015 that Derek Hatton, former Militant Leader, had rejoined the Labour Party after his expulsion in 1986.
It came as a shock to Labour and was carried by media across the UK for days after the revelation on ITV’s political series Party People and Granada Reports.

The programme was produced by Anna Youssef, Daniel Hewitt was Political Reporter and the programme was Exec. Produced by Lucy West. It was an ITV News Production. The 2015 series saw in-depth exclusive interviews with Prime Minister David Cameron in February, Ed Miliband in January, Chancellor George Osborne in March, Nigel Farage and later with Security Minister John Hayes. The Derek Hatton special was broadcast in May.
Rob began presenting Party People in 2005 and became ITV’s longest serving presenter of political programmes in 2014. He began presenting political and current affairs programmes for Granada Television in 1994 and was appointed Editor of Political Programmes a year earlier in 1993. He oversaw an overhaul of output creating The Spin; The Line; A Postcard From…(Party Conference output); General Election and Local Election Specials and Century 21, ground-breaking programmes attached to major events and specially created conferences (with The Guardian and others) hosted by Channel Four News’ Jon Snow and Anthony (Tony) Wilson.
